Windsor, ON – Jerry Richmond, age 51, of Windsor has come to the realization that years spent in the Ontario public school system learning the Dewey Decimal system may have been a waste. “It just kind of hit me the other day that after tenth or eleventh grade I never needed the Dewey Decimal system again. Never used it again in my entire life” Mr. Richmond announced on social media over the weekend.
The Dewey Decimal organizes library materials in an index by discipline or field of study and was a large part of the public school curriculum during Mr. Richmond’s formative years. He went on to describe his introduction to the system in his younger days “We had library class for one hour twice a week with Mr. Love at William G. Davis public school. And now that I think about it the name Mr. Love sounds kind of made up. So I’m starting to think this whole Dewey Decimal system may have been some kind of elaborate scam.”
Mr. Richmond said his epiphany came recently when he was using Google to look something up on Wikipedia “It occurred to me that I don’t need to ever go to a library to find information. My phone and laptop have all the answers” he elaborated further “Kids today don’t know how easy they have it. They don’t have to learn cursive writing, they don’t have to spend hours researching things in the library, they don’t have to use the ladies underwear section in the Sears catalog as a form of soft-core pornography. They can just find everything they need for a fulfilling childhood on the internet.”
