Windsor, ON – In a stunning announcement at a hastily called press conference Sam Walters, director of roadway construction for the City of Windsor, admitted that the city roadway and construction planners have somehow overlooked having a construction project on Wyandotte Street East this summer.
“I honestly don’t know how this happened but we will get to the bottom of this. We have construction on Walker, Ouellette, Riverside, Howard and Tecumseh and somehow we missed doing something on Wyandotte Street East. Drivers haven’t had any inconveniences on that stretch of road since last summer and I am embarrassed to say that we have not met the standards that the citizens of Windsor have come to expect from our department” a contrite Walters told gathered media on Friday afternoon.
To address the situation Mr. Walters advised “If I have to go out there next week and set-up some orange traffic barrels myself to get traffic down to one lane in each direction that’s exactly what I am going to do. The taxpayers of Windsor deserve this and we’re going to deliver. However it may take me some time to get over there on Monday as traffic in Windsor is just brutal lately for some reason”.
