Windsor, ON – Due to a lack of available area codes in North America the Wynne government unveiled a plan this week to help balance the Ontario budget by selling the 519 area code to the state of California. California has run out of available cell numbers and made the offer this past week to purchase 519 from Ontario.

The 666 area code has not been in use since the end of 2007, when the small town of Reeves, Louisiana, finally rid itself of the telephone area code that had been bedeviling its citizens since the 1960s. It wasn’t popular in Louisiana but the Liberal government thinks the people in Ontario will be more accepting of using 666 when making calls.

“I don’t think it is such a big deal” said Liberal Telecommunications Minister Louis Cifer during the media conference call to announce the change. “Since we have risen to power we have done what we think is best for all of mankind, and Ontario. Mankind and Ontario” he emphasized a second time. “I for one plan to promote and embrace 666 and hope everyone else will too. We all have to make sacrifices every day, some times two and three times a day” said Mr. Cifer before ending the call at which time he suggested that if anyone had recorded the conference call they could play it backwards to hear a special message from the Premier.
