Windsor, ON – Ahead of the upcoming municipal election the Ward 11 incumbent has submitted a proposal to rebuild the Peabody Bridge. The original bridge was located on Riverside Drive East and was demolished in 1993 to allow for better flow of traffic as it had become obsolete.
However, incumbent city councillor Frank Edwards thinks it is the perfect time to bring the bridge back. “We’re always closing east-west streets in Windsor for various construction projects so I was thinking that since we’re going to tie-up traffic anyway we should re-build the Peabody Bridge. Everyone seems to love the Gordie Howe Bridge so I think a bridge on Riverside Drive would be just as popular.”
Mr. Edwards continued “I have such fond memories of taking my driving tests and driving over the Peabody Bridge. My very first car accident was at the bottom of the original bridge when I was just 17 years old. And I’m also proposing the new bridge have pizza slices for sale underneath it. I think we can all agree that any decent riverfront attraction needs to have a snack bar. But I think the snack bar should only be open on the weekends and closed during the winter. Nothing says ‘Windsor’ more than having a closed riverfront attraction. Am I right?”
