Windsor, ON \u2013 Ahead of the upcoming municipal election the Ward 11 incumbent has submitted a proposal to rebuild the Peabody Bridge.\u00a0\u00a0 The original bridge was located on Riverside Drive East and was demolished in 1993 to allow for better flow of traffic as it had become obsolete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

However, incumbent city councillor Frank Edwards thinks it is the perfect time to bring the bridge back.\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cWe\u2019re always closing east-west streets in Windsor for various construction projects so I was thinking that since we\u2019re going to tie-up traffic anyway we should re-build the Peabody Bridge.\u00a0 Everyone seems to love the Gordie Howe Bridge so I think a bridge on Riverside Drive would be just as popular.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Edwards continued \u201cI have such fond memories of taking my driving tests and driving over the Peabody Bridge.\u00a0 My very first car accident was at the bottom of the original bridge when I was just 17 years old.\u00a0\u00a0 And I\u2019m also proposing the new bridge have pizza slices for sale underneath it.\u00a0\u00a0 I think we can all agree that any decent riverfront attraction needs to have a snack bar.\u00a0 But I think the snack bar should only be open on the weekends and closed during the winter.\u00a0\u00a0 Nothing says \u2018Windsor\u2019 more than having a closed riverfront attraction.\u00a0 Am I right?\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
