Windsor, ON \u2013 A dog living in the east-end of Windsor announced today that he plans to petition the courts for a name change.\u00a0\u00a0 When speaking to gathered media the two-year-old canine explained his position \u201cSpot?\u00a0\u00a0 Seriously?\u00a0 I moved in with these people last year and they started calling me Spot.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0\u00a0 Because I have a spot on my fur!\u00a0 What a stereotype! \u00a0 How lazy can they be?\u00a0 After consulting an attorney I feel I have no other option but to pursue this matter through the courts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

In reply Spot\u2019s owners advised that they didn\u2019t mean any harm when naming the dog \u201cWe had a very busy week when we named him.\u00a0 We had just moved to a new house and we picked up him and brought him home and we just went with Spot. We really don\u2019t see why this is such a big deal a lot of dogs have simple names like Spot, Patch or Max.\u00a0 He didn\u2019t seem to mind at first but in dog years he is now a teenager and I guess it has become a problem.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spot reports that he plans on filing a motion in the coming weeks seeking his emancipation and the ability to change this name \u201cThis relationship is broken.\u00a0 If they can\u2019t see the harm they are doing by calling me Spot there isn\u2019t much hope in salvaging things moving forward.\u00a0 I will not be defined by my appearance.\u00a0 It is clearly fur discrimination.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked what his plans were for a new name Spot replied \u201cI\u2019ve got a few ideas. I want something with some street-cred.\u00a0\u00a0 I\u2019m thinking the Notorious D.O.G. or L.L. Drool J.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
